Today, I crossed the All-Knowing Boundary of Being Appropriate while teaching my 10th graders. I said the following joke in class:
A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets. As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her. Without missing a beat, she said, " Sir, I need to see your ticket, not your stub."
Is it me, or do I want to get fired? But you know what, it's a hell of a lot more G-rated than the things they say, see, and DO every single day...

Hey Pretty Hyperbole...
Wandered into your blog, I'm an educator myself, and even in an ultra conservative society like India, your joke would have been 'in place'. Your kids (oops... students) would love you for it :)
Cheers!
just from the news, not experience, it would seem in this day and age you can't be too careful around your students.
It seems the things that get teachers in trouble are silly, yet things some teachers do will not get them in trouble. It's very hard to understand.
Are you trying to get fired? As I understand it, it is very difficult to fire a public school teacher.
Sounds pretty tame to me, but then people are crazy this day and age. Besides, it's not like you slept with any one of them, which seems to be the latest craze.
